Earlier this summer, Volvo introduced the Concept Coupe, a sleek and sexy two-door that hints at the Swedish brand’s future design language. At that point, it wasn’t immediately clear whether or not it would make it into production, but a new report begs to differ.
2014 will be the final year for the C70, Volvo’s beautiful but slow-selling hardtop convertible. That doesn’t mean we won’t see a replacement, however. Drive says Volvo will introduce a new C70 inspired by the Concept Coupe sometime in the future.
Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo’s vice president of product strategy and vehicle line management, told Drive the Concept Coupe can be put into production almost immediately, “but at the end it’s the cream on the cake and at the end you need the cake first before you put the cream on it.”
